Six days before the important meeting of the interest rate-setting body, the government on Tuesday named three external members to the Reserve Bank of India's reconfigured Monetary Policy Committee. The three external members are Delhi School of Economics Director Ram Singh, economist Saugata Bhattacharya, and Nagesh Kumar, director and CEO of the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development. They will succeed outgoing external members Jayanth Varma, Ashima Goyal, and Shashank Bhide. The RBI Act prohibits the reappointment of external members.

However, Tesla shares slid 3.5% as the electric manufacturer revealed lower-than-expected third-quarter vehicle deliveries. Investors kept an eye on West Asia news after Israel and the US promised to retaliate for Iran's attacks on Israel on Tuesday.
